Gallery - temporary closure for terrazzoLatrobe Regional Gallery will be temporarily closed to the public for one week from Tuesday 28 June. By Latrobe Shire Council - 28th June 2004 - Back to News The temporary closure is to facilitate resurfacing of the reception floor and corridor floor to achieve a terrazzo effect.
Gallery Director, Louise Tegart, said the terrazzo effect would create a floor surface that is more resilient to marking. "Gallery 3 will also have its floor resurfaced, and we will take advantage of the closure to undertake any other minor works in the Gallery that have the potential to cause inconvenience to patrons at other times," Ms Tegart said.
"Staff will also take advantage of the temporary closure to refresh and change the contents of a number of display cases," Ms Tegart added.
The improved Gallery will reopen to the public on Tuesday 6 July. Susan Purdy, whose exhibition New Branches on an Old Tree is currently on show at the Gallery, will give a floortalk at 3pm. Cost is $5 for general public, $3 concession or free for members of the Gallery Society.
