Member for Morwell Russell Northe today welcomed the opportunity to present Berry Street, Anglicare Victoria and participants of the Kurnai Young Parents program with nappies collected through the "Nappy Collective Giving Project".

Mr Northe thanked the Latrobe community for their overwhelming response to the May drive of the "Nappy Collective Giving Project".

"Through the generosity of locals, 1,130 nappies were donated through drop off points at Churchill Pharmacy, Churchill Neighbourhood Centre and my electorate office in Morwell," Mr Northe said.

"It’s fantastic to see the generosity of locals and I would like to thank everyone that donated and also to the Churchill & District News team who facilitated collection points in Churchill."

Mr Northe said worthy local organisations such as Berry Street, Anglicare Victoria and the Kurnai Young Parents program will each receive 376 nappies as part of the collection.

"These organisations do a marvellous job in supporting many young parents who can sometimes find themselves in challenging circumstances, and the donation of these nappies hopefully can make a small positive difference," Mr Northe said

"We’ve had donations from parents that know first-hand how difficult things can be when becoming a new parent, and subsequently they decided to contribute to the "Nappy Collective Giving Project".

"There has also been donations from mother’s groups who pulled together and purchased packets of nappies to donate to this worthy cause."

The next collective will take place in October 2016.
