Monday 17 June from 8pm.

Latrobe City Council’s coordinator performing arts and venues, Kathleen Roberts, said that movie had attracted great reviews for its very quirky take on family life.

"The Moochmore girls are certain they all suffer from some kind of undiagnosed mental illness - because if they’re not crazy then they’re just unpopular.

"Their mother Shirley (Rebecca Gibney) is unable to cope with her demanding daughters and is unsupported by her philandering politician husband, Barry (Anthony LaPaglia). She suffers a nervous breakdown.

"After Barry commits his wife to a mental hospital (telling his constituents that she’s on holiday) he finds himself alone with five teenage girls he barely knows. Desperate, he impulsively picks up a hitchhiker named Shaz (Collette) and installs her in his home as nanny to his daughters. The result is a leftfield look at relationships with some very Australian observations," Ms Roberts said.

Mental screens on Monday 17 June at 8pm at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre. LPA Members are free; tickets for non-members are $7 per person. Bookings are essential and can be made on 5176 3559.
