The delegation was officially greeted by Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin, and Council’s Chief Executive Officer Allan Bawden. Council’s Emergency Management Officer, Hilton Chadwick made a presentation to the group about Emergency Management Planning in Local Government. The trip to Bass Coast also included a visit to Phillip Island for the penguin parade that evening.

The program, conducted by the University of Melbourne for the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, had a particular focus on emergency preparedness in schools. Delegates included members of the Ministry of Education and student counsellors from a variety of Malaysian primary schools.

The group also visited The Grampians and the Yarra Ranges during their five day visit to Melbourne.
