Wonthaggi is about to score another upgraded sports facility, as building of Wonthaggi Croquet Club's new pavilion is confirmed to begin in February at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, Wentworth Road.
Bass Coast Shire Council are excited to add another sporting facility to Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, after granting the contract for the construction to an award-winning Wonthaggi-based builder. Council appointed TS Constructions Pty Ltd - Master Builders Victoria's 2022 Regional Commercial Builder of the Year - after a competitive open tender process.
Building of the new club rooms and pavilion will begin, and the new energy efficient facility will provide a permanent home for the Wonthaggi Croquet Club

Benefits for the community from the new space - for members and visitors of the Wonthaggi Croquet Club - include:
- Fully accessible facilities
- Office space
- Full kitchen with modern appliances
- Multi-purpose social space
- Deck with views over the existing lawns
- New equipment shed
The new energy efficient facility will provide a permanent home for the Wonthaggi Croquet Club, who have been operating from a small portable building for many years. Club members and guests will be able to continue with their competitions and practice throughout the construction,
Project completion
Works are to be completed by early August 2023, subject to favourable weather, contractor availability and material supply. The total project cost is $727,650, jointly funded by Sport & Recreation Victoria ($459,000), council's Capital Works Program ($243,650) and the Wonthaggi Croquet Club ($25,000).
Council expects limited disruptions to traffic and pedestrian movements. However, we appreciate that these works may present inconvenience and ask the community for their patience.
