07- 08 Art Tour Brochure Launched

50 people braved the blustery weather to launch the seventh year of the Bass Coast Art Tour last week.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 6th July 2007 - Back to News

The launch was celebrated with the traditional exhibition of art works by participants at The Westernport Hotel. The exhibition closes on July 8.

The 07-08 Art Tour brochure features over 20 artists and their art. It maps their locations around the Shire and also includes major landmarks and historical tours.

The brochure is unique in Gippsland and is compiled by the Bass Coast Arts and Cultural Forum with support from Bass Coast Shire Council.

Special guest and world renowned sculptor, Deborah Halpern, officially opened the exhibition and launched the brochure.

Ms Halpern chose inspiration as the theme of her talk. She listed a number of things that gave her inspiration including metaphysics, God, water and internet dating.

"I am also inspired when I see the high standard of work at this exhibition and on hearing about the work of the Bass Coast Arts and Cultural Forum," said Ms Halpern.

Ms Halpern remarked that the more she came to know the local area, the more she is inspired by the number of talented artists she comes across.

The Art Tour first began in 2000, as a way of bringing an audience and buyers to artists in the area.

Free copies of the Art Tour Brochure are available from all Council Customer Service and Visitor Information Centres.
