Are You Victoria’S 2012 National Youth Week Young Member?

Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe has called for enthusiastic young people in the Latrobe Valley aged 16-25 years to apply to become the 2012 Victorian National Youth Week Young Member.

The Victorian Coalition Government supports young people who are active in their community and passionate about issues facing young Victorians. National Youth Week is a chance for young people to celebrate their contribution to the community and have their voices heard.

Mr Northe said the role was a great opportunity for a young person to be part of the National Youth Week (NYW) team and to represent Victoria.

"I encourage all young people in the Latrobe Valley to apply to become part of the National Youth Week team," Mr Northe said.

The group meet regularly and plan what is going to happen during National Youth Week.

"The Victorian Young Member of NYW has the opportunity to get media skills and training, develop knowledge of community and state government run youth programs, meet and work with a diverse range of people across Victoria and gain skills and knowledge in group facilitation, public speaking and diplomacy," Mr Northe added.

The Youth Week Young Member will represent young people across Victoria during National Youth Week in April 2012.

Mr Northe said the NYW team was involved in all aspects of planning, developing, implementing and promoting National Youth Week across Australia.

"I encourage all young Victorians, from all walks of life, who have a passion for our community and want to get more involved to apply for the 2012 Young Member role," Mr Northe said said.

National Youth Week is Australia’s biggest youth event and is run in April each year to show case the contributions and talents of young people across the community.
