Morwell Makes Room for ‘Her Place’
Celebrating the lives of Victorian women with an exhibition in Morwell.
The Andrews Labor Government is celebrating the lives of ten Victorian women with a new exhibition in Morwell.
Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins and Member for Eastern Victorian Region Harriet Shing today announced Her Place Women’s Museum has brought one of its unique pop-up exhibitions to the Morwell Library.
The not-for-profit organisation is dedicated to celebrating the social, civic and entrepreneurial achievements of Australian women.
Their latest exhibition features Susan Alberti AC, Pat Bigham AFSM, Sallie Jones, the Hon Joan Kirner AC, Deborah Lawrie FRAes Map, Halima Mohamed, Alice Pung, Peta Searle, Alma Thorpe and Aunty Bess Yarram.
Since 2016 Her Place has toured these pop-up exhibitions across Victoria, showcasing the lives of Victorian women from diverse backgrounds.
Run by a small team of staff and volunteers, Her Place is supported with $430,000 in funding from the Labor Government.
This free exhibition is running at the Morwell Library until 20 October
