Wonthaggi Tennis Club pavilion construction with $870,000 funding starts
Construction of new pavilion at Wonthaggi Tennis Club starts.
Bass Coast Shire Council has appointed TS Constructions Pty Ltd to construct a new $870,000 pavilion for Wonthaggi Tennis Club at Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve. Building works are underway for the purpose-built, stand-alone facility, which will provide additional amenities for Wonthaggi Tennis Club members and guests.
Bass Coast Mayor Cr Michael Whelan said the new pavilion was an exciting addition for the club, which has been a staple of the local community since 1972

The new pavilion, which boasts sustainable design features, will span 207sqm of internal floor space and include a social room and outdoor deck overlooking the existing courts, as well as office space and kitchen facilities.
Bass Coast Mayor Cr Michael Whelan said the new pavilion was an exciting addition for the club, which has been a staple of the local community since 1972.
"The new purpose-built pavilion at Wonthaggi Tennis Club will offer a welcome meeting place for members and visitors that will complement the new courts installed two years ago," Cr Whelan said.
Works to complete next year
Cr Whelan also said, "While there will be heavy plant and machinery on the site over coming months, we envisage there will be minimal disruption to other recreation users, the community and the club as a result of the construction works. We thank the community in advance for their understanding."
Traffic and pedestrian controls will be in place while the works are undertaken, and one large tree will be removed as part of the project. A vegetation removal permit was not required.
The works, which have been funded by the council's Capital Works Program and a Victorian Government grant, are expected to be completed by May next year, depending on favourable weather, contractor and supplier availability.
