What's happening in the township of Buchan?If you have not been in Buchan in the past year then you may not be aware that things are a changing. So let me try to get you up to date as much as I can. By Wesley Pringle - 15th September 2004 - Back to News The Buchan Nieghborhood House and Community Members are starting up the Foothills District Market. There are three businesses that are under New Ownership.
There is the Foothills District Market That will be held every 3rd Sunday September 19th, October 17th November 21st December 19th (weather Permitting) on the bank of the Buchan River between the Old Butter Factory and the Buchan Neighbourhood House. It will run from 9:30AM till 2:30PM. Stalls will be set up for Produce-fruit, veggies, flowers and plants. Arts and Crafts- toys, jewelry, paintings, sculpture, woodwork and knitting .Homemade Items-jams, preserves, cakes, cookies, and beauty products. Refreshments-hot and cold food and drinks. Entertainment-buskers, clowns, demonstrations, facepainting, Trash and Treasure-Books, clothes, tools and household items.

The Post Office has moved across the street to the General Store.So now you can send out a letter and pickup a few things. There is a nice little gift shop and mini toy-store.oh and lollies for us kids young and old. They also have some lovely cards designed by a local artist. So stop by and say Hi to Ian and Judy Gray.
Across the street there is the Road House that is run By Don and Margret Hammond two of the nicest people you could meet. Not only do they have the diesel and petrol pumps but also can supply you with LP bottled gas for the BBQ or Caravan not to mention a Hot or cold sandwich for those that are hungry and on the go, yes kids there are lollies here too. If your thinking well I would love to go to Buchan but you must get feed for your livestock. Then put your mind at ease. Don has that covered as well he has feed, grains and farm supplies in the back don't worry he hasn't forgotten the dogs and cats.
And last but not least The Buchan Caves Hotel is the Place to go for a wonderful sit down meal Trevor and Erin have brought new life into this Buchan Icon not only does it have the country charm and relaxing atmosphere that allows you to truly enjoy your meal. You don't feel like someone has picked your pocket after you've paid your bill. So check it out if your not hungry then stop at the pub and enjoy a cold one and a game of pool. Don't forget if your just passing by you can visit the bottle-shop to get something for home.
