Statement from The Nationals State President Neil PankhurstAudits for the Nationals’ Morwell branch By Portal Admin - 26th February 2018 - Back to News In 2017 a number of concerns were raised regarding the bank account of The Nationals’ Morwell branch.
In the interests of full transparency and to give our membership assurance, The Nationals requested a thorough and independent audit of the account.
This audit was completed recently and on Friday evening the findings were considered by The Nationals’ (Victoria) Board of Management.
The audit indicated possibility of unauthorised transactions and of an alleged forgery relating to a withdrawal of $8000 in May 2017. This sum was later deposited back into the account.
The auditor directed The Nationals to consider making a report to authorities, and this morning The Nationals’ Victorian State Director is contacting Victoria Police.
While we understand the public interest in this matter, The Nationals will not make further comment until Victoria Police has examined the allegations and provided us with further advice.
