Peculiar Creatures Inhabit The Gallery

Visitors to the Latrobe Regional Gallery will have the opportunity to look at the odd creatures that have recently taken up residence, courtesy of the exhibition ‘Obliquity Prints’ by Rona Green.

Gallery director, Julie Adams, said that the exhibition presents the audience with strange animal/human characters and explores ideas about identity and individuality within society.

"Rona has a deep interest in the tattooing traditions of various cultures and uses the signs and symbols of tattoos to tell us the individual stories of this parade of loveable and, one suspects, sometimes naughty characters.

"Rona will give an artists’ floor talk on Thursday 28 May at 4.30 pm which will give visitors the chance to ask specific questions about Rona’s work. Rona will also conduct an introductory printmaking workshop on Saturday 30 May, between 10am and 4pm at the Latrobe Regional Gallery," Ms Adams explained.

‘Obliquity Prints’ by Rona Green continues until 14 June.

Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. Entry is free. For more information phone the Gallery on 5128 5700 or email lrg@latrobe.vic.gov.au.
