By news@gippsland - 27th April 2016 - Back to News Latrobe City Council is organising its very first Pets in the Valley Expo at Old Gippstown on Saturday 21 May from 9am to 2pm and is looking for pet-friendly businesses interested in being stallholders.Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that the event would provide local business with the opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ local animal lovers.
"The Pets in the Valley Expo is going to provide a range of services and information for pet owners in the region, including vet checks, reduced rate microchipping, pet portraits, dog obedience demonstrations and plenty of other family-friendly activities. It will be a relaxed, fun environment where the community can learn about responsible pet ownership.
"We hope to attract a solid number of businesses to the event to support the anticipated high number of visitors. Providing quality stalls to browse will ensure the event offers more than just a chance to meet other pet owners.
"The Latrobe City community loves a market and we know that events such as these can give a boost to our economy locally and offer options for small businesses or those who might normally run their business from home," Cr Rossiter said.
Kevin Reardon, from Old Gippstown said he would be looking for stallholders to register their interest by the end of April.
"This is going to be a great opportunity for family-friendly, pet or animal-related businesses to promote their services or products. The organising committee is keen for this market to be the backbone of the event," Mr Reardon said.
