Melbourne Ballet Company To Perform At Latrobe Performing Arts Centre Melbourne Ballet Company The Melbourne Ballet Company will deliver its acclaimed and original set of four works Infinite Space in a spellbinding performance on Wednesday 8 August 2012 at 8pm. By Latrobe City - 17th July 2012 - Back to News Workshops for budding ballerinas will be held on the same afternoon with selected participants able to warm up with the company dancers on stage before the show.
Latrobe City Council’s coordinator performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that Infinite Space was a breathtaking example of classical dance re-interpreted to inspire both new and loyal ballet audiences.
"It will entrance audiences as it takes them on a choreographic journey through the four works. In One Day is choreographed by Simon Hoy and Robert Kelly, to the music of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. This is a 35 minute work that is remembered for its sheer physicality and athleticism.
Dark Before Daylight features the classical pointe shoe and tutus and is an impression of the timeless story of Swan Lake, choreographed by Simon Hoy to the music of Elgar.
"Phrased Without Word, choreographed by Simon Hoy to Arvo Pärt’s ‘Spiegel in Spiegel’ is a breathtaking physical expression of this score; and Infinite Space, choreographed by Simon Hoy, to Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major and Mozart’s 27th piano concerto which has become a signature piece for the Melbourne Ballet Company is an uplifting celebration of hope and beauty," Ms Roberts explained.
"The classical workshops will be held at 3.30pm to 5pm for junior dancers and 5pm to 6.30pm for intermediate/senior dancers on the afternoon of the performance. Dancers in the intermediate/senior category may be selected to take part in a warm up, on stage, with members of the Melbourne Ballet Company. Places for the workshop are strictly limited so make sure you book your spot. The workshop costs $20 per person. " Ms Roberts concluded.
Infinite Space will be performed at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre, Traralgon on Wednesday 8 August from 8pm. The bar opens from 7pm.
