The Minister for Community Development approved a Victorian Community Support Grant (VCSG) of $130,000 to Latrobe City Council on 14 May 2009 towards the extension of the Morwell Senior Citizens Building.
The project to extend the Morwell Senior Citizens building was originally driven by the volunteer needs of the Morwell Centenary Rose Garden Committee. This dedicated group of volunteers aged between 65 and 70 contribute collectively over 5000 hours a year to oversee the operation and management of the gardens, which are a source of great pride in Morwell.
