Stage Set For Highway DuplicationPrepartion by VicRoads for Stage 7 of the Bass Highway duplication is underway. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 19th September 2008 - Back to News "The route for Stage 7 has been clearly identified by VicRoads," said Bass Coast Shire Council’s Planning and Environment Director, Hannah Duncan-Jones.
"The highway will be duplicated from south of the Bass Township to Coast Road.
"From Coast Road a new highway will be constructed across farmland, southwest to join with Phillip Island Road near the scenic lookout."
The Minister for Planning has authorised Bass Coast Shire Council to prepare an amendment to the Planning Scheme to allow land to be rezoned.
"What this amendment means is that the land in question will have the Public Acquisition Overlay applied, to allow the State Government to purchase the land needed for the construction of the highway," explained Ms Duncan-Jones.
Amendment C61will be on exhibition until 17 October 2008.
"Members of the public can inspect the amendment and the supporting documents at Council offices in Wonthaggi, Grantville and Cowes," said Ms Duncan-Jones.
"They can also be accessed online at the Department of Planning and Community Development website at www.dpcd.vic.gov.au/planning.
"Or you can contact Sharna Cole in our Planning Team on 5671 2479 to have documentation sent out to you."
Anyone affected by the amendment is able to make a submission. The closing date for submissions is 17 October 2008. Submissions must be sent to the Strategic Planner, Bass Coast Shire Council, PO Box 118, Wonthaggi, Vic 3995
