The two day visit from the Melbourne Football Club is packed with activities including training at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve and Phillip Island Football ground, and community visits.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Acting Director of Community and Economic Development, Peter Francis, said the Community Camps are something that footy fans and local clubs look forward to.

"The whole team is coming and the program is about players getting out to the regional areas to meet local football players and supporters. While the players and coaches are in Bass Coast they will split into groups to train at grounds in Wonthaggi and Phillip Island and manage a packed schedule over the two days.

"There is an official welcome from the Deputy Mayor on Monday at 1.30pm at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, where Mark Neeld, Senior Coach of the Demons will also give an address. Right after this, there is a Super Clinic involving thirty of the players on the Wonthaggi Reserve," said Mr Francis.

"On Monday afternoon team members head out for community visits to the Wonthaggi Bowls Club and others go to the Wonthaggi Hospital."

There are further training sessions at the Wonthaggi and Phillip Island Football grounds later on the same day as well as on Tuesday, 14 February.

"This is an opportunity for everyone in the community to come out and see these professional players and coaches in action," Mr Francis said.
