As a State player, Jessica was involved in a one and a half week program in mid September. The first event was the Australian Open Championship at Ballarat, contested by 130 players from 15 Nations. Next in Melbourne, followed the Clendinnen Shield, which is Badmintons National Teams Competition. The final event was the Australian Closed Championship. All three events were critical tests for Commonwealth Games selection.

The Australian Closed Championship commenced the following day. Jessica won her way into the second round in both the singles and mixed doubles.
