Show Societies Invited To Share In $295,000 Of Grants Member for Morwell Russell Northe has encouraged show societies across the region who are in need of facility upgrades, to consider applying for grants of up to $10,000 under the Victorian Government’s Agricultural By Russell Northe - 28th August 2013 - Back to News and Pastoral Society Grants Program.
Mr Northe said the Victorian Coalition recognised the social and economic benefits show societies provided to rural and regional communities.
"Agricultural shows are often a major social and industry event for communities, where once a year everyone comes together in the one place – the local showgrounds," Mr Northe said.
"For example the Traralgon and District Agricultural Society will this year host its 124th Traralgon Show on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November, and I congratulate the committee on providing an event that is enjoyed by many Gippslander's."
"A total of $295,000 is available this year for agricultural and pastoral societies to undertake showground facility improvements and occupational health and safety upgrades.
"The grants will are based on $2 being provided by the Victorian Government for every $1 provided by the society.
"The program provides grants of up to $10,000 to develop showground facilities, up to $8000 to upgrade amenities and up to $5000 for associated society activities," Mr Northe said.
