The All Star Two Day Basketball Camp is being held on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 September and is targeted at those aged six to 15 years. Organised by Dandenong Rangers Basketball Association, it will also boast WNBL All Star 5 Point Guard and WNBA Connecticut Sun draftee Erin Phillips and is being staged at Sale’s Bishop Phelan Stadium.

For further details and to enrol, collect an All Star Clinic Booking form from Bishop Phelan Indoor Sports Stadium or O.A Ruff Sports Stadium. Alternatively, phone 5142 3432.

This clinic is being run hot on the heels of a major WNBL pre-season tournament in Wellington, which runs from 15 to 18 September, featuring a number of top Australian sides and the New Zealand national team.

It will only be the third time a basketball tournament of this magnitude has been staged in Gippsland. The main venue will be Sale’s Bishop Phelan Stadium, with Heyfield and Maffra also hosting games. Teams participating include Bulleen, Canberra, Adelaide, Dandenong and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), along with New Zealand Tall Ferns Basketball Teams.

Tickets are available at the door and are priced at $7.00 for adults and $4.00 children (aged 16 and under). For more information please telephone Wellington Shire Council’s O.A Ruff Sports Stadium on 5142 3432.

As well as having the opportunity to watch these top flight teams battle it out on the court, the community will be able to watch open training sessions.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Peter Gault: "Hosting this prestigious event is great news for the council and the shire. It will inject a welcome financial boost into Wellington’s economy and benefit local tourism. Just as important, the tournament and clinic will offer the community and our younger, up-and-coming basketball players, the chance to experience and learn from the elite athletes participating."
