Free Money Advice Available

Help is available for people who find it difficult to make ends meet, Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe has said.

By Russell Northe - 5th February 2010 - Back to News

The not-for-profit service, MoneyHelp is aimed at helping people manage their debts, bills and get through uncertain financial periods.

"You may be having some trouble with coping with credit cards, mortgage repayments or rent, and this free, confidential and independent advice service is now available to assist with managing your finances.

"MoneyHelp can show you how to prioritise and manage your debts, how to approach your creditors, or even the best way to use your termination payment."

"MoneyHelp has a Budget Planner as a check list to make sure you don't overlook any expenses. It shows you how to plan on a weekly, monthly and annual basis, given the income you will receive, and considering all expenses you will encounter. The budget will show you how long your money will last, and may even enable you to find areas where you can reduce your spending."

"MoneyHelp is funded by the Consumer Credit Fund and the Victoria Property Fund on the approval of the Minister for Consumer Affairs."

Mr Northe said MoneyHelp has a website and free phone counselling service that will help manage income and debt.

"Whilst MoneyHelp is not a money lending service, the financial counselling service lines are open Monday-Friday from 9-30am to 5pm for your help in discussing your issues further. Interpreter services are also available.
