Walhalla boosts the community

The economical flow from Walhalla's tourism revenue feeds Gippsland

By Casey Poke - 8th March 2000 - Back to News

Walhalla Historic Township is one of Gippsland biggest drawcards. According to a recent study conducted by a student at RMIT Walhalla's future is a promising one.

The study showed that Walhalla contributed $600,000 each year into Gippsland's economy as part of the tourism revenue. The study estimated the revenue could potentially increase to 2.5 million by the year 2005.

The results came as no great surprise but were nevertheless pleasing. Much work has gone into improving Walhalla as a tourist destination whilst keeping it’s integrity alive. Further “user-friendly” development will be put into place at Walhalla to cope with the rapidly increasing number of tourists that visit.

A great place to visit and an even greater boost for Gippsland’s economy.
