Local Award Winner To Feature On Postcards Montfort Manor Traralgon luxury boutique accommodation Montfort Manor will showcase its facilities this weekend on the television program Postcards. By Russell Northe - 25th February 2011 - Back to News Postcards, which highlights interesting places to visit and things to do in Victoria spent a full day filming on the Traralgon property in early February, and Montfort Manor will be the feature location on the upcoming episode.
Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Member for Morwell Russell Northe said the inclusion of Montfort Manor in the program, owned by locals David and Mel Wilson was a great coup for the region.
"Montfort Manor is the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards 2010 Winner for Hosted Accommodation, and is a thriving and well known local business. The Latrobe Valley and wider Gippsland region is a unique place to live, work and visit, and it’s imperative that we showcase what we have to offer to those not only within the state, but nationally.
"Having Postcards film in Traralgon is a great achievement not only for Montfort Manor, but also for the other businesses and locations in the Latrobe Valley which may benefit from a possible flow on effect due to this publicity.
"The fact that Montfort Manor will be on national television is a credit to David and Mel and the hard work and dedication they have demonstrated over a long period of time as small business owners.
"From a tourism perspective we have much to offer right here in the Latrobe Valley, and to be involved in this program is a terrific opportunity. Through Postcards we can show our wares that will ultimately see the Latrobe Valley become a destination of choice for many Victorians."
Montfort Manor owner David Wilson said filming on the day was extensive, and covered all aspects of the accommodation and surrounds.
"They filmed here from 9:30am until 3:00pm, and they constantly marvelled at how much the Gippsland region has to offer. It is surprising how many people don’t realise what a beautiful part of Victoria the Latrobe Valley is; we are very lucky to live and work here.
"I think it is a very positive step for our region to be able to host a program known for showcasing picturesque and unique locations. To have Postcards take an interest in us has been fantastic, and I hope it educates Victorians about what we in Gippsland have to offer."
Postcards featuring Montfort Manor will be screened this Sunday, 27 February at 5:30pm on Channel 9.
Montfort Manor will be competing against other tourism destinations at the 2010 QANTAS Australia Tourism Awards in Perth on 11 March 2011.
