Mayoral fundraiser concert a success on all fronts

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield’s fundraiser concert on Friday 16 June at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre was a huge success, with almost $12,000 raised for Bass Coast Health’s Hospital in the Home (HITH) program.

The evening included a raffle and auction with items generously donated by local businesses which raised approximately $4,000. Local businesses and individuals also supported the event through cash and in kind donations.

The headline band, The Davidson Brothers, wowed the crowd with their super fast fingers, harmonic voices and humour to match. The support band, The Bass Coast Pickers, a local group who formed doing jam sessions at Archie’s Creek pub, also impressed the audience.

The concert was a culmination of efforts and team work. It was hosted by Bass Coast Mayor and coordinated by Bass Coast Shire Council in partnership with Bass Coast Health. Local member for Bass, Brian Paynter MP, was the MC for the evening, and there was a large volunteer effort from many individuals including auctioneer Scott Hughes and several helpers from the hospital and Council, all working together towards a common cause to raise funds for the HITH program.

A short video and speeches by Don Paproth, Board Chair of Bass Coast Health, and Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rothfield, explained the importance and value of the HITH program to the audience.

"This program will provide eligible patients with acute treatment such as intravenous antibiotics, infusions and complex wound care in the comfort of their own home," Cr Rothfield said.

"We can all recognise the benefits and value of having this treatment available to people in their homes. Not only by providing a more comfortable and positive environment, but also by minimising the stress and logistics often involved with having to travel."

On behalf of Bass Coast Shire Council and Bass Coast Health, the Mayor would like to extend a sincere ‘thank you’ to all of the sponsors who supported the event through generous donations.

"We simply could not have achieved such a successful event without the support of the sponsors and people of Bass Coast. Once again I am inspired and awed by the generosity and kindness of our community. Thank you," Cr Rothfield said.

Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child’s mirrored the Mayor’s sentiment.

"It was so wonderful to see how well supported and enjoyed this event was. It has also been a fabulous experience working in partnership with Bass Coast Shire and our wonderful Mayor. I am thrilled that these funds will enable us to purchase important equipment for the program," Ms Childs said.

The money raised will assist Bass Coast Health to purchase the necessary equipment for the HITH program.

The Davidson Brothers wowed the crowed at the Mayoral fundraiser concert, Winter Vibes.
