Skate Strategy ready to rollBass Coast Shire Council has appointed skate industry experts, Convic, to lead the development of the Bass Coast Skate Strategy 2016-2026. By Portal Admin - 16th September 2016 - Back to News The strategy will be crucial for Council’s forward planning and will inform on the future location and design of skate parks for the next 10 years.
Council’s recently completed Sports and Active Recreation Needs Assessment highlighted skating facilities as a high priority for the Shire.
Working alongside Council, Convic will lead the way through a series of community consultation opportunities, which will take place in the latter part of 2016.
It is expected that throughout the project, skate park enthusiasts will have various ways to share their thoughts on the current facilities provided and where and how future facilities should be considered.
Council’s General Manager Healthy Communities and Governance, David Elder, said the community would play a big role in developing a thorough plan that is relevant to all communities across the Shire.
"An essential part of this project will be speaking with the community, especially avid skaters throughout Bass Coast," Mr Elder said.
"Convic are a street credited skate design and consultation company, and we are confident that the final strategy will provide a clear set of priorities and plan on skate facilities in Bass Coast."
In November, Council will be calling out for interested community members to be part of a steering committee for the project.
Steering group members will be expected to assist with developing the consultation process and provide a local link between the community and Council.
