Northe Urges Community to "Speak Up"
Upcoming Tom Curtain "Speak Up" tour
Member for Morwell Russell Northe today joined with Boolarra Community Hotel Board Chairman Barry Richards and Lifeline Gippsland, Business Operations Manager, Alex Todorovski along with members of the Boolarra community in a show of support for the upcoming Tom Curtain "Speak Up" tour to be held at the Boolarra Community Hotel on the 16th February.
"Tom is bringing his Katherine Outback Experience, to Boolarra and the Gippsland region to raise awareness about bullying with a strong focus on giving children and young people courage and strategies to overcome bullying" Mr Northe said.
"Members of the Boolarra Community and support agencies such as Lifeline would like the community to support this event and subsequently understand the importance in talking about mental health, depression and suicide prevention initiatives" said Mr Northe.
Tom Curtain, is a winner of two Golden Guitar awards and the 2018 Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards in multiple categories (Best Artist, Male Vocalist, Album and Single of the Year).
Tom was deeply touched by the tragic passing of Amy "Dolly" Everett, a Northern Territory teenager who took her life in January 2018 as a consequence of bullying.
"Mental Health can play such a big part in people’s lives no matter what age and Tom’s message is sure to resinate to a variety of people within our community" said Mr Northe
"Tom’s show is more than just a concert it’s an event involving both horses and dogs including a specially written song inspired by "Dolly" to spread a very important message about bullying" Mr Northe said.
"The Boolarra Community are certainly excited that the show is being held in their town, and really encourage the wider community to attend this special event," added Boolarra Community Hotel Board Chairman Barry Richards.
