The Club Kicks An Impressive Goal On StageAs the football season ramps up the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre presents a play that reveals the greed and corruption played out behind the scenes of the sporting world - The Club by David Williamson By Latrobe City - 23rd April 2013 - Back to News Starring iconic Australian actor John Wood The Club will be performed on Tuesday 30 April from 8pm.
Latrobe City Council’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that The Club followed the seismic shift from Australian sport to Australian business.
"Can the proudest club in the history of Aussie Rules football survive the back room dramas and boardroom brawls that are more ferocious than any on-field dust-up? Football has never been played like this…
"Following HIT Productions’ phenomenally successful tour of this seminal work in 2007/2008, the nation’s favourite actor, Gold Logie Award winner John Wood, returns to the role of Jock for a brand new national tour. Denis Moore, who performed in the 2007/2008 tour, returns to the play as director.
"This play will appeal to the sports-minded, the drama lovers, the comedy lovers and those who want to immerse themselves in the impact of John Wood’s acting," Ms Roberts concluded.
The Club will be performed at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Tuesday 30 April from 8pm. The LPA bar will be open from 7pm. For bookings call the box office on 5176 3559.
