Staff Lose Their Locks In Greatest Shave

Shave For A Cure

Shave For A Cure

Bass Coast Shire Council staff put their heads where their hearts are today when they shaved or coloured their hair to raise money for leukaemia.

By Bass Coast - 15th March 2011 - Back to News

One of the staff who lost his locks, Jamie Sutherland, said the team has a personal connection to the cause, after the death last year of former Infrastructure Maintenance Manager, Fred Mazyrko, from a rare form of Leukaemia.

"Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for the Leukaemia Foundation," explained Jamie.

"We set ourselves a fundraising target of $1,000 which we’ve already reached! We’ve raised $1,300 so far.

"This week it’s exactly twelve months since Fred passed away, so it is a pretty significant time for team.

"I’d like to thank Tash and Janine, hairdressers from Hairport in Wonthaggi who donated their time to help Ange Gennaccaro and me with our cut."

The money raised will help patients and families who are going through the long and tough treatment for leukaemia.

You are still able to support the team by donating online using a credit card. Simply go to www.worldsgreatestshave.com, click on ‘sponsor a team’ and search for ‘Bass Coast Shire Maintenance’.

All donations over $2 are tax deductable and you will receive a receipt.
