Latrobe City Youth Band To Host Fundraising Trivia NightWith a planned trip to Taizhou City in China and Takasago City in Japan on the calendar for early next year, the Latrobe City Youth Band is organising a trivia and auction night on Friday 16 November By Latrobe City - 12th November 2007 - Back to News at the Traralgon Golf Club, to complement the other fundraising activities that they have been undertaking.
Latrobe City’s international relations officer, Yuki Poole said that the band members are committed to making this tour a great success and the trivia night is a fun way to raise much needed funds.
"The band members have been participating in a series of cultural awareness sessions, team building workshops, meetings and other fundraising activities in preparation for the tour.
"Major sponsors Monash University Gippsland Campus, Australian Paper, The Flight Centre and Lowanna College have been very generous in support of the band but the more funds are still needed, so the idea for a trivia night was put forward.
"This event will be a great opportunity for people to get together with their friends, families and colleagues to have a fun night while supporting these talented young musicians," Ms Poole said.
"Many local businesses have donated items for the silent auction and the raffle, and the golf club is providing the venue for free. We now need the community to support the event to make it a great success.
Ms Poole said that the planned tour would provide the band members with the opportunity to experience the diverse cultures of both countries, whilst also enhancing their musical and personal development.
"The band members are very excited about the tour. They get to play in front of different audiences, developing their performance skills. To visit these sister cities and be ambassadors for Latrobe City is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Ms Poole concluded.
The Latrobe City Youth Band trivia night will be held on Friday 16 November 2007 at the Traralgon Golf Club from 6.30pm. Tickets are $10 per head or $100 per table of ten. To book a table, call Yuki Poole on 1300 367 700 or email: yukipo@latrobe.vic.gov.au.
