Carpark renewal works at the Inverloch Boat Ramp and footpath renewals in Wonthaggi are just some of the Capital Works projects currently underway in Bass Coast Shire.

Work on renewing a section of the carpark at the Inverloch Boat Ramp has started and is expected to be completed by mid-September, subject to weather conditions.

Works will include the installation of new kerb and channel, drainage pit works, road pavement renewal and asphalt overlay and line marking.

This $145,000 project is being carried as a part of Council’s 2019-20 Capital Works Renewal Program. While the works are underway, the affected section of carpark will be closed to the public.

It can be a challenge to complete this sort of work without affecting carpark users and the contractors will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.

Footpath renewal works are also underway along Murray Street, between Drysdale Street and Asquith Court and along Reed Crescent, between Billson and Queen streets in Wonthaggi.

The Murray Street works are expected to be completed within the next week. The $22,000 project is being funded by Council’s Footpath Renewal Program. The works will include the removal of around 112 metres of existing path and replacing it with a 1.5 metre wide, fibre reinforced concrete path and service adjustments as required.

Construction of the footpath along Reed Crescent has begun and is expected to take around three weeks to complete. This $28,500 project is being funded by Council’s Footpath Renewal Program. This project will include the removal of around 160 metres of existing path and replacing it with a 1.5-metre-wide, fibre reinforced concrete path and service adjustments as required.

These footpath projects will improve access for pedestrians and provide a safer connection to these areas.

As part of these works, new concrete may be laid through resident’s driveways. Affected homeowners have been informed of any work that will impact access to their properties. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
