Are you ready for Caravan Burlesque? As part of May’s Creative Gippsland festival, Caravan Burlesque a seductive, By Latrobe City - 18th May 2012 - Back to News subversive and electrifying show that has critics raving and audiences around the world in raptures is coming to the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 24 May from 8pm.
Creative Gippsland director, Amanda Owen, said that the performance was a travelling emporium that fused Parisian nightclub with jaw-dropping cabaret and seductive spectacle.
"It tips a velvet wink to Australia’s wild past of touring vaudeville and variety. Sultry songs and underdressed sirens, razor sharp wit, hula-hooping madness, Bollywood, Butoh, backroom ballet and gothic divas will enthral, challenge and delight.
"Led by the undisputed empress of provocative variety, Moira Finucane, and packed to the rafters with internationally acclaimed artistes the road-train of the risqué will sashay into town bringing a night to rival the Nullarbor: hot hot hot and full of stars!" Ms Owen said.
Ms Owen added that several members of the cast would be hosting workshops on Wednesday 23 May at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre.
"There will be an á Capella workshop with Maude Davey and an energetic Dance Jam with Paul Cadeiro and Holly Durant. Perfect for those who want to sing, dance or to just experience the freedom of performing.
