Cancer Care Centre To Benefit From Youth Band Concert Latrobe City Youth Band Charity Concert 07 will be held on Saturday 25 August 2007, at 7pm for 7.30pm start at Kernot Hall, Morwell. By Latrobe City Council - 21st August 2007 - Back to News This event is being held to raise much needed funds for the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre located in Traralgon.
The Latrobe City Youth Band is holding the fund raising concert as a thank you for all the community’s support since 2002, in the hope of providing the cancer care centre with some additional funds to be able to provide further services to our community.
Latrobe City mayor, Cr Tony Zimora, said that it is great that young people are getting involved in charity work and this concert is a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to help raise much needed funds for our cancer care centre.
"Latrobe City Youth Band had always wanted to organise a charity concert to thank the community for their support and their first charity concert was held in July last year to raise funds for the cancer care centre. The band then decided to make this charity concert an annual performance.
"The band, consisting of young people aged between 14 and 22, and from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds, has also been extremely busy rehearsing and preparing for a forthcoming band tour to our sister city," Cr Zimora said.
"Performing overseas will be great opportunity for our youth band to take advantage of our sister city relationship in Takasago, Japan. Next Saturday’s charity concert is going to provide a great opportunity for our own community to experience the depth of talent and professionalism that exists within our young community which, Takasago audiences will soon be enjoying."
The youth band is determined to make this charity concert a successful community event with the help from Lavalla Catholic College and Francis Orchestra, who will also be performing on the night.
This Latrobe City event is proudly sponsored by Latrobe City, Monash University, Lowanna College and Australian Paper.
Tickets are available at Latrobe performing arts box office, telephone 5176 3559. Adult: $10, Concession $5 and Family $25. Some tickets will also be available for purchase at the door on the night.
