My Brilliant Divorce at the Latrobe Performing Arts CentreThe funny but poignant stage production of ‘My Brilliant Divorce’ by Geraldine Aron is coming to the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 16 June. By Latrobe City Council - 26th May 2005 - Back to News Latrobe City’s Performing Arts and Venues Co-ordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the radiantly witty and warm show was a smash hit in the West End and is now touring Victoria.
"My Brilliant Divorce follows the story of Angela, dumped by her husband for a younger model. We follow her achingly funny story as she fumbles through the days and the dating scene, rediscovering herself and hoping to find the love of her life," Ms Roberts explained.
"If you enjoyed ‘Shirley Valentine’, then you will love ‘My Brilliant Divorce’," Ms Roberts added.
"Genevieve Lemon, star of ‘Sweetie’ and ‘Steaming’, appears in this Australian Premiere production of an irresistibly funny ‘stand up tragedy’. The exceptionally talented and versatile Ms Lemon, is widely loved and lauded for an astounding body of work, celebrated across the stage, screen and television.
"An AFI and Australian Film Critics’ winner (Best Actress) for her brilliant portrayal of the title role in Jane Campion’s ‘Sweetie’ and a Green Room award nominee for ‘Steaming’, Ms Lemon has regularly featured as a performer in Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland Theatre Company productions such as ‘Hanging Man’, ‘Summer of The Seventeenth Doll’ and ‘Brilliant Lies’. She is a renowned writer and cabaret star (‘Three Men and a Baby Grand’, ‘Lone Star Lemon’) and is known internationally for her film and television work: ‘The Piano’, ‘Holy Smoke’, ‘Neighbours’, ‘Prisoner’ and ‘Always Greener’," Ms Roberts said.
Directed by Gary Down, ‘My Brilliant Divorce’ will be on at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre, Traralgon on Thursday 16 June 2005 at 8pm. For ticketing information, call the Box Office on 5176 3559.
