Microchipping Opportunity

Wellington Shire Council will be microchipping dogs in conjunction with the RSPCA Million Paws Walk this Sunday.

By Wellington Shire Council - 16th May 2006 - Back to News

Tim Wise, Field Service Co-ordinator for the Wellington Shire Council said that mircrochipping permanently identifies the animal.

"Microchipping makes it easier for lost animals to be reunited with their owners, especially if the animal has lost council registration tag" he said.

"It is a great opportunity for pet owners on Sunday, they can have their dog microchipped and then enjoy a stroll with their dog as part of the Million Paws Walk if they choose" said Mr Wise.

"We are encouraging pet owners to be responsible" he said.

Wellington Shire Council also offers a discount for Animal Registrations of pets that are desexed and microchipped.

Microchipping will be available at Lake Guthridge from 10am to 1pm.

Only dogs will be microchipped on the day. Vouchers for cats to be microchipped at a later date will be available on the day

The cost will be $25.00 per animal.

"The microchips are good value- it is a one-off cost and will help protect your pet for the duration of its life" said Mr Wise.
