By news@gippsland - 4th February 2025 - Back to News After facilities were left condemned for more than three years in the wake of the June 2021 floods, Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said it is great to see construction underway at Traralgon Recreation Reserve for a new flood-proof Multipurpose Pavilion. 
Federal MP Darren Chester welcomes the start of construction on Traralgon Recreation Reserve's new flood-proof Multipurpose Pavilion Major community sports upgradeThe long-standing yet flood-prone previous facility has been demolished, paving the way for a new Multipurpose Pavilion featuring change rooms for use by football, netball, cricket and boxing clubs, a kitchen, a social space and a boxing gym. Local company Langden Construction is undertaking the $6.2 million project, which is the most significant capital works project run by Latrobe City Council at the moment and is a testament to the successful partnership of all levels of government. Funding to undertake this much-needed redevelopment has been received from all three levels of government, including an allocation from the federal government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
