Camp For The Latrobe Training Volleyball ProgramAn update from the Edison Mission Energy Gippsland Academy of Sport By Andrew Pomeroy - 16th July 2002 - Back to News The Gippsland Sports Academy Volleyball squads are attending an intensive Volleyball camp this weekend in Bairnsdale to prepare for a series of tournaments. Head Coach Dan Higgins said that the squad has selected talented young athletes who are prepared to work exceptionally hard. ‘Our Strength and Conditioning work is assisting us to get to new levels of fitness and as a result athletes are able to train harder and longer in their bid to improve and hopefully make future State and National Teams’. Higgins was the Head Coach of the National Junior Men’s Volleyball team from 1997 –2001, is originally from Gippsland and is keen to develop athletes from the region. He went on to say ‘This camp is probably the most important development opportunity in our pre tournament phase and we invite regional coaches to attend to see what our athletes are capable of’
The camp will be held at the Bairnsdale Recreation Centre from 10.30am Saturday and will conclude at 3.30pm on Sunday.
