Record Attendance At E-Commerce RoadshowSmall businesses in the Latrobe region are receptive to opportunities which support improvement and business growth By Glen Waterhouse - 25th June 2002 - Back to News Over 100 people came to the Victorian Government E-Commerce Roadshow, at GREEN Inc on Monday 24th June. This is a record number of people to attend an e-commerce event in the Latrobe Valley.
The Enterprise Development Network (EDN), together with the Monash Regional Centre for ICT, hosted the E-Commerce Roadshow. The Enterprise Development Network comprises GREEN Inc, Gippsland Area Consultative Committee, Latrobe City Council, Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, and the Latrobe Business Centre.
The E-Commerce Roadshow event featured a trade show of businesses that provide technology and related services and products and a series of e-commerce workshops, designed and delivered by KPMG.
The majority of people who attended were people who run micro businesses – typically from home.
Glen Waterhouse, Executive Director of GREEN Inc said, "The excellent attendance certainly indicates that these people are interested in learning, and perhaps implementing technology solutions to improve their business activities."
"We hope that this event will stimulate demand for businesses who provide e-commerce and related technology services and products, in the Latrobe Region."
State Government representatives from MultiMedia Victoria who attended, were impressed with the level of organisation, as well as the obvious enthusiastic participation by all in the event.
"This sends an important message to State Government – that small businesses in the Latrobe Region are proactive and receptive to opportunities which support improvement and business growth. I would like to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to support this event," said Glen Waterhouse.
