Get Your Free MulchIf you’re a green thumb, or just want to spruce up your garden don’t miss out on the chance to pick up some mulch free of charge. By Bass Coast - 25th November 2010 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Waste Management Officer, Peter Roberts, said people could visit the transfer stations at Wonthaggi, Rhyll and Inverloch and collect the mulch.
"This is a great opportunity for people to come along with their trailers and pick up some mulch for their garden," encouraged Mr Roberts.
"Giving away the mulch helps clear some of the stockpiles we have at our transfer stations and it is great for your gardens."
The mulch is available while stocks last for collection over two periods in December
"If you are interested in collecting the mulch, mark Saturday, 4 December through to Monday, 6 December in your calendar.
"The offer also runs the following week from Saturday, 11 December through to Monday, 13 December.
"Only trailers are allowed to pick up mulch, trucks are allowed but fees apply," said Mr Roberts.
If you need bulk deliveries (fee applies) you can contact Wonthaggi Recyclers on 5672 1933.
"Anyone picking up mulch needs to cover their trailers so mulch doesn’t escape and is not a driving hazard for people travelling behind them."
While every effort is made to keep the mulch weed and litter free, it is not guaranteed.
Mulch collection on the nominated days is free of charge, but transfer station fees apply at all other times.
