Yallourn museum to host family history sessionAnother of the very popular family history sessions conducted by the Latrobe City library service will be held at 2pm Saturday 27 May at the Old Brown Coal Mine Museum in Yallourn North. By Latrobe City Council - 16th May 2006 - Back to News Latrobe City’s library systems coordinator, Claire Wood, said the session aims to give people who have previously missed out on attending these sessions the chance to learn the skills to start researching their family history and to understand the basic methods of research.
"This presentation is being hosted by the Yallourn North Historical Society at their museum in North Road, and provides the opportunity to see family history in the context of community history," Ms Wood said.
"This workshop will give those attending the opportunity to learn about accessing the database ‘Ancestry’."
"Ancestry offers an extensive range of information from England and Wales from the civil registration indexes for births, deaths and marriages up to the early 1900s, strong US and Canadian records, as well as UK and Ireland parish and probate records from as early as the 16th century."
