Combating Climate ChangeAn Inverloch resident is managing the effect of climate change in his home, after receiving funding from Bass Coast Shire Council’s Climate Change Program. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 3rd November 2008 - Back to News Funded by the State Government, the Council managed program is available to residents over the age of 80 to help make their homes operate more environmentally-friendly.
John MacDonald is one of a long line of locals to receive funding, which he has used to purchase a drinking water tank.
"This program is great in that it helps people like me understand climate change and really allows us to feel like we are doing something to contribute to a healthier environment," Mr MacDonald said.
"This water tank is going to be great for our little vegetable garden and fruit trees."
Council’s Community and Economic Development Director, Patti Wenn, said the funding could assist measures such as purchasing or installing low flow showerheads, drinking water tanks, shades or water conservation home maintenance.
"Funding for the Climate Change Program is available this financial year and I encourage residents to take advantage of it," Ms Wenn said.
"We welcome suggestions on how people would like to spend the money and encourage them to think outside the square as to what could make their home operate more environmentally efficient."
