Local Moe Company Wins Manufacturer of the Year
Medium-sized business Manufacturer of the Year named.
Local Moe manufacturing business Safetech won big at last night’s Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards, named the leading medium-sized business Manufacturer of the Year.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing congratulated Safetech who were one of the innovative, visionary and entrepreneurial Victorian businesses recognised for driving the growth of Victoria’s manufacturing industry.
Safetech designs and manufactures world-class lifting equipment including dock equipment, scissor lifts, vehicle lifts, hoists, cranes, lifting devices and palletising solutions that have revolutionised the materials handling industry.
The company’s hoists are installed in some of the most iconic locations in Australia including the MCG, the Australian Parliament House, State Theatres, Perth’s Crown Casino and Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance.
The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards has been recognising outstanding businesses and individuals in the manufacturing industry since 2001.
Two inaugural awards were presented at this year’s Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame on 14 May, with Air Radiators awarded the Leader in Innovative Product Development and Commercialisation, and Holden Special Vehicles awarded the Leader in Global Supply Chain Partnerships.
Geoffrey Bell was inducted into the Hall of Fame Honour Roll, Rochelle Avinu from Leica Biosystems was awarded the Woman Manufacturer of the Year award, and Nicholas Orchowski from RUAG Australia received the award for Young Manufacturer of the Year.
Other companies were also recognised with awards for excellence, including Dulux Australia, Robert Bosch Australia, Barker Trailers and Columbia Australia, with RUAG Australia the latest company inductee into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
Victoria’s manufacturing industry contributes over $30 billion to the Victorian economy annually, employs more than 270,000 people and competes globally with $19.6 billion annual exports in 2017-18.
