By Latrobe City Council - 30th May 2001 - Back to News

Latrobe City Council Health Services has been notified by Food Safety Victoria of a food recall. The product type is labeled ‘Hazel Nut’, and distributed by Cadbury Confectionery, A Division of Cadbury Schweppes Australia Limited.

The products have been distributed nationally to all major retail chains.

Latrobe City Council Health Services Unit Leader, Andrew Mackintosh, said the 250g bars of Hazel Nut chocolate with a use by date of 25 May 2002, should be disposed of by the public and the wrapper forwarded (post free) with the senders name and address, to Cadbury Confectionery, 636 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, Vic 3004; for a full refund.

"The Hazel Nut bars are being recalled due to contamination with small pieces of blue plastic," Mr Mackintosh explained.

"While stocks appearing in supermarkets are immediately withdrawn from display, products like this are often purchased from supermarkets and then resold to the public by small retail outlets such as canteens and caravan parks, who may not have been notified of the recall. We advise citizens to check any of the affected product in their possession to see if it is from the same batch, no matter what source it was obtained from," Mr Mackintosh added.
