Building Communities Through Infrastructure Grants

The 2012 funding round of the Cultural Precincts and Community Infrastructure Fund (CPCIF) is currently open, Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe announced today.

By Russell Northe - 11th May 2012 - Back to News

The investment by the Victorian Government of $12 million over four years (2010-2014) will enhance cultural precincts and community facilities across Victoria and secure the longevity of Victoria’s significant community assets.

Small and major capital infrastructure grants will be available to culturally and linguistically diverse community organisations for the restoration or construction of community-owned facilities.

The grants are also available to local councils who partner with community organisations to enhance cultural precincts

"Projects supported through these grants will maintain and enhance the physical expression of the Latrobe Valley’s cultural assets," Mr Northe said.

"The Fund aims at promoting these assets for the benefit of all community members."

Mr Northe said the Victorian Government recognised and supported the multicultural heritage of citizens who have helped build the Latrobe Valley and Victoria.

"These community institutions, associations, clubs, meeting halls and cultural centres are signposts that reflect our culturally diverse yet unified and cohesive society," Mr Northe said.

"These are important community focal points guiding the way for Victorians to interact and involve themselves with our multicultural society."

To date nearly $6 million has been granted to community organisations and local councils for capital infrastructure projects across Victoria.

Grant applications can be submitted until close of business on 8 June 2012.

The funding applications and guidelines are available on the CPCIF link at www.multicultural.vic.gov.au.
