The Old Buchan Road Gets A Much Needed Upgrade

After having been approved for about 9 years with money allocated all this time. The Old Buchan Rd leading into Buchan has been paved.

Some thought it would never happen and most never knew that it was in the works but now it's a done deal and it's just great. It not only cut off about 7/10 a kilometre off the travel into Buchan but provides a much safer entry and exit than the other paved road leading into Buchan. The route is a bit steeper than the alternate but has a lot more visablity in regards to oncoming traffic. It would not be a bad idea to restrict the usage to two and four wheel vehicles and have the other road be the Trucking lane due to the fact that the grade of the road is more gradual than the newly paved Old Buchan Road and it would not be as hard on the large trucks to pull up and over and likewise easier on the brake during decent. While adding a bit more safety to the residential and tourist traffic that would not need to worry about big trucks with double trailers on the hairpin turns.

Oh and by the way who ever posted the speed limit at 100 KPH on the twisting hairpin filled road out of Buchan should have his head checked the terrible thing is not everybody has common sense and the school bus drives this road. A maximum of 60 KPH with 30 - 40 KPH at the hairpin turns would be a much saner posting
