Nominations are open for the 2011 Business Awards! Bass Coast Shire Council is again proudly partnering with SuperPages to run the prestigious Awards.

By Bass Coast - 21st April 2011 - Back to News

Following on from the success of last year, the SuperPages Bass Coast Business Awards will run in two parts. A People’s Choice section will run alongside the Business Awards, so businesses and their customers can be involved.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, said the growing popularity of the Awards was a reflection of the strength of the local business community.

"The SuperPages Bass Coast Business Awards are a way to acknowledge the benefit our local businesses bring to the Shire," said Cr Dowman.

"Last year’s awards saw a record number of entries in the People’s Choice section and this encouraged some businesses to nominate themselves for the Business Awards.

"There are some real economic and promotional benefits for businesses that get involved," explained Cr Dowman.

"And if someone from the community nominates a business for a People’s Choice Award, they go in the running for a $250 shopping voucher.

"I encourage everyone to support the 2011 Awards and help make this our biggest and best ever."

Entries

All businesses in Bass Coast, registered to receive business mail with Australia Post, will receive a Business Award kit in the mail. The kit will include entrant’s information, a nomination form for the Business Awards as well as voting forms for the People’s Choice Awards.

Nomination forms will also be available from Bass Coast Shire Council Customer Service Centres. Nominations close on 3 June 2011.

Council’s Business Development Officer, Margaret Murray, believes the Awards provide a great opportunity for local businesses.

"The Awards are not simply a fancy ceremony. Businesses that get involved really benefit from the Awards promotion," Ms Murray said.

"As well as this, filling in the entry form gives them a chance to evaluate their business and to work on their business, rather than it. It also gives them an opportunity to reflect on their achievements to date – look at where they’ve come from and where they are heading."

There are four categories in the Business Awards:

· Business Excellence

· New Business

· Environmental Sustainability

· Good Access is Good Business

The overall winner – the 2011 Super Pages Bass Coast Business of the Year - will be selected from the winners of these categories.

People’s Choice

Council is asking members of the community to vote for any business operating in Bass Coast that they believe provide excellent service.

"We want people in the community to nominate businesses that go above and beyond what is expected of them to deliver their service to the customer," explained Cr Dowman.

"Businesses aren’t able to nominate themselves in this section, but they should encourage their customers to put in a nomination!"

Nomination and voting forms are also available online at basscoast.vic.gov.au . Entries are limited to one per person, per business. Nominations close on 3 June 2011.

Gala Award Presentation

The Business Awards will culminate in a Gala Presentation Dinner on Friday, 8 July 2011 at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club. The evening is open to all businesses, not just those that have been nominated, and any business can book a table for their staff and/or friends. Because of the success of last year’s event it is suggested people book early. To book a ticket, please contact Bass Coast Shire Council’s Business Development Officer, Margaret Murray on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) email: m.murray@basscoast.vic.gov.au or book online at http://www.visitbasscoast.com/tours.asp.
