Free Home-Based And Small Business WorkshopA free business workshop aimed at assisting anyone running a home-based or small business, will be held this Wednesday 21 February in the Function Room at the Latrobe City civic centre in Kay Street, Traralgon. By Latrobe City - 16th February 2007 - Back to News According to Leo Billington, acting Manager Economic Development, Latrobe City, this workshop will meet the needs of anyone operating a small business interested in learning new, relevant and exciting ideas to alleviate the ever present worries and concerns that may discourage small business operators.
"Latest statistics show that, across Australia, an estimated 67.5 per cent of all small businesses are home-based. This is a significant part of our economy and therefore any assistance such as this workshop becomes invaluable. Here is an excellent chance for small business owners to meet and swap their stories to learn from each other," Mr Billington said.
"The range of small businesses in Latrobe City reflects the passions, strengths and abilities of our small to medium business community. As always, there is considerable time and effort plus significant levels of investment involved, so I encourage these operators and others to attend these types of workshops."
A panel of three diverse local home-based business operators will speak about the trials and tribulations they have overcome. Strategies to enhance sales, business success and advancing business opportunities will be a central feature of this unique presentation. Also, Helen McAdam, Gippsland manager of Consumer Affairs Victoria will explain how consumer affairs legislation affects small business.
"To have local businesses being prepared to relate their experiences to other business people is an effective way to network. All our guest speakers know the value of establishing business networks which can support and strengthen our local small business sector," Mr Billington concluded.
The ‘Home Based Business Networking Workshop’ is an initiative of the Small Business Field Officers Program auspiced by the Australian government and is one of several planned for across Gippsland.
The workshop will commence at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm start. For bookings or more information, please phone Terry Vincent on 1800 669 300 or Leo Billington on 0407 541 258.
