Sporting Grants AnnouncedSuccessful applicants to the Sporting Club Grants Program. By Portal Admin - 13th December 2020 - Back to News An announcement by the State Government today that a number of local clubs and organisations were successful applicants under the ‘Sporting Club Grants Program’ is welcome news for the many groups who have struggled through a tough time due to COVID19 restrictions.
The Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced that more than 580 grassroots clubs and organisations would share in $900,000 through the Sporting Club Grants Program with a number of local groups successful that in turn will help with the purchase of uniforms, equipment and training for volunteers.
"The ‘Sporting Club Grants Program’ has long been a popular and successful program that provides important support for many regional communities and clubs. These same organisations are invariably reliant on the herculean efforts of volunteers who help to make sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities, and increase local participation" Mr Northe commenced.
"It is wonderful to know that a number of local clubs will be the beneficiary of funding that in turn will assist them to continue to deliver sporting and recreation opportunities in our local community" Mr Northe said.
"It has been an incredibly tough year for so many sports and sporting groups, and I’m sure the grant recipients will be thrilled that their service and efforts have been recognised by way of a ‘Sporting Club Grant" Mr Northe continued.
"Grant recipients of uniform and equipment grants included the Gippsland Flippers Masters Swimming Club, Callignee and Traralgon South Cricket Club, Latrobe Cricket Club, St Michael's Basketball Inc, Traralgon City Soccer Club and Traralgon Imperials Cricket Club.
In addition, the Traralgon Swimming Club received support for skill development, whilst the Traralgon Tennis Association was provided with a grant to enhance its organisational operational capacity - so congratulations and well done to all applicants and recipients" Mr Northe concluded.
