Clint Eastwood - Independent Candidate for Gippsland East

‘The Time Has Come’

By Clint Eastwood - 12th November 2006 - Back to News

With November 25th now only a few days away, the time has come for the voters of Gippsland East, to ‘weigh up’ in their hearts

and in their minds, who they believe will be the best choice to represent our electorate for the next four years.

We need someone who will ‘give a damn’ about each and every citizen.

The time has come for our region to receive its fair share of Victoria’s wealth.

We rightly deserve, and now we must finally demand ‘a fair go’.

For far too long, Gippsland East has been treated with contempt and neglect.

You only need to look not too far from home, to see for yourself that we are not being treated with equality.

  • Our health services are declining, staff are leaving, services are being cut and patients are being turned away.
  • Our roads are falling apart, are unsafe, and cannot cope. As the song goes: ‘We’re on a road to nowhere’.
  • Our families need greater support, not more struggling. Age, gender or colour does not matter, we all need care.
  • Our environment is sick. Our biggest icons are our natural assets. We must act now before it’s too late.
  • Our transport, or lack thereof, is putting our communities at a disadvantage. We need fairness, not ‘farce-rail’.
  • Our education is important throughout our lives. ‘Knowledge begets Power’. Learning is a lifelong lesson.
  • Our tourism industry needs all the support it can muster. Invest in our industry, Invest in our infrastructure.
  • Our economy is being ‘stifled and strangled’ by ever growing taxes, bureaucratic interference and red-tape.
  • Our farmers are in crisis. A neighbour from hell, an endless drought and government ignorance, is killing them.
  • Our water is being stolen! Gippsland is being pushed to breaking point by Melbourne’s insatiable thirst and unstoppable greed.

Their bodily waste for our precious water? Say NO WAY! It’s time to say enough is enough!

So as you can see, in reality, everything is not so rosy here in our region. Although we are constantly being told to believe that things are great,

they are in fact the opposite. And our current member can take the credit.

Actually, he already has. The advertising says it all…

Well they do say ‘that while Rome burned, Nero fiddled’.

The time has come, for all of us to make a very important decision. The time has come, to decide our future.

God Bless East Gippsland – Our Home.
