Staff Conference Day Awards

Three major categories of awards were presented to GippsTAFE staff at this year’s conference, Service Awards, Staff Inspired Scholarships and Staff Excellence Awards.

Service Awards saw Gary Newitt (Applied Science), and Rod Walker (Applied Science) recognised for 30 years of service to the Institute, Bob Farnaby (Community Access), David Neilson (Building Studies), Don Jones (Maintenance), Doug Mullen (Campus Manager, Warragul), and Mick de Graff (Electrical, ETTA Campus) for 25 years and Peter Wallin (Building Studies), and Joe Piper (General Manager, Education and Learning) for 20 years.

Staff Inspired Scholarships for 2003 assist staff in their ongoing professional development to integrate Flexible Learning and/or On-line Technology into their workplace.

Arthur Schumann (Telecommunications, ETTA Campus). Bronwyn Lloyd (Business Studies), Jenni Hardy (Quality Assurance), Narelle Naismith (Health and Community Studies), Rosemary Burns (Manager, Computer Centre), Fran Dodd (Library) and Suzanne Boag 9fashion0 were this year’s scholarship recipients.

Staff Excellence Awards acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by members of staff towards fulfilling the goals, values and missions of the Institute.

This is the highest honour awarded to staff by their peers at GippsTAFE. Professionalism, commitment to best practice and high standard of excellence are at the heart of these awards.

Leanne Bruce, Manager of the Gippsland Vocational Training Unit received the award in the category "Contribution to the Institute – Links with the Community".

In the category "Contribution to the Institute – Group" the award was given to the Media Production Unit / Student Services, Max Campbell, Filomena Colarusso, Wendy Schilipalius and Darren Teller for the development of GippsTAFE’s interactive CD Rom.

Dale Duncan from the Art Department received the award in the category "Contribution to the Institute – Individual."
