GippsTAFE delivers training in the Workplace Margaret Cummins (Proprietor of "A Patchwork Paradise) with Skilling Small Business trainer Toni Wakefield A program currently involving the delivery of nationally-accredited training to thirty-one small business operators in the Latrobe Valley has been described as innovative and flexible. By GippsTAFE - 14th August 2003 - Back to News Head of Centre for Business Studies at Central Gippsland Institute of TAFE, Paul Haarburger, said the "Skilling Small Business Project", a program that runs for one year, was an excellent example of catering for the needs of many hard-working small business operators who often can’t attend training at TAFE during normal business hours.
Training is mostly delivered in the workplace and often after hours. Accredited trainer, Toni Wakefield, who has very extensive business experience, provides high-quality training in the areas of Managing Finances, Promoting the Business and Business Planning. Small groups receive training at premises in Traralgon, Churchill, Morwell and Moe.
Mr Haarburger also said that GippsTAFE’s extensive experience in delivering work-based training to trainees and employees involved in up-skilling programs had certainly contributed to the smooth delivery of the program.
Whilst the Skilling Small Business Project is fully subscribed, it is hoped to continue and to expand on the 2004 program in some similar format.
